Google Pixel 11 Pro XL
The Google Pixel 11 Pro XL is available at City Hub Electronics, Nairobi. It shares the entire Pro camera system with the Pixel 11 Pro and adds the two things that matter most on a long shoot: a 6.8-inch Super Actua display for monitoring and framing, and a larger battery with 45W charging to keep the day running.
Camera
The Pro triple rear camera is identical to the Pixel 11 Pro, which means nothing is traded away for the larger body. It opens with a 50MP Octa PD wide at f/1.68 on a 1/1.3 inch sensor with an 82 degree field of view, the largest sensor in the array and the one that carries low light performance.
The 48MP Quad PD ultrawide runs at f/1.7 across 123 degrees on a 1/2.51 inch sensor, with autofocus and Macro Focus for close work. The 48MP Quad PD telephoto sits at f/2.8 with a 23 degree field of view on a 1/1.95 inch sensor, delivering 5x optical zoom with optical image stabilisation.
Pro Zoom reaches 120x, with Google quoting optical quality output at 0.5x, 1x, 2x, 5x and 10x. Multi-zone laser detect autofocus, a spectral and flicker sensor and optical plus electronic stabilisation on the wide and telephoto complete the system.
The 42MP Dual PD front camera at f/2.2 covers a 103 degree ultrawide field with autofocus. On the larger display, framing a piece to camera from the front lens is significantly easier to judge, which is a small practical advantage that adds up across a shooting day.
Google rates the XL display as roughly 9 percent brighter with more than twice the scratch resistance of the previous generation, which is the specification that determines whether you can actually judge exposure outdoors.
Video Recording
Resolutions and Frame Rates
The rear camera records 8K at 24 and 30fps powered by Video Boost, 4K at 24, 30 and 60fps, and 1080p at 24, 30 and 60fps with slow motion support up to 240fps. Dual exposure control is available on the wide camera and Super Zoom Video extends to 20x.
The 42MP front camera records 4K at 30 and 60fps. Supported formats are HEVC (H.265), AVC (H.264), AV1 and VP9, all of which import cleanly into standard editing software without a transcode step.
The 6.8-inch panel is the operational difference here. Monitoring 8K and 4K framing, checking focus and reviewing takes on set is materially easier on the larger display, and it reduces the need for an external monitor on smaller productions.
Stabilisation
Optical image stabilisation on the wide and telephoto lenses is combined with fused video stabilisation, which blends optical and electronic correction rather than switching between them.
Cinematic Pan stabilisation at 4K and 1080p converts a handheld horizontal move into a slowed, controlled pan. Locked stabilisation at 4K and 1080p holds a static frame as though the phone were tripod mounted. Active stabilisation at 1080p is the aggressive mode for walking and vehicle work.
Pro Stable Video handles general handheld capture, and 4K timelapse is recorded with stabilisation applied. Astrophotography timelapse and Night Sight timelapse cover long-exposure motion sequences.
Colour and Dynamic Range
Capture is 10-bit HDR throughout, giving a colourist real latitude in highlights and shadows and preventing banding in gradients. Real Tone processing is applied across the camera system for accurate rendering of a full range of skin tones.
Night Sight Video extends usable capture into low light conditions where most phone cameras become unusable, which is the relevant mode for event, nightlife and indoor venue work.
Zoom, Framing and Capture Modes
Magic Capture records video and stills together from one tap, so a single pass produces both deliverables. Camera Coach offers framing and composition guidance in app, Pro controls expose manual settings directly, and Camera Looks apply consistent styling at the point of capture.
Macro Focus Video uses the autofocusing ultrawide for close-up motion work, covering product detail and texture inserts without additional glass.
Power
A typical 5,115 mAh battery, rated at a minimum 5,000 mAh, is the largest cell in the Pixel 11 range and delivers what Google rates at over 30 hours of battery life.
Charging is where the XL separates itself. Using a 45W USB-C PPS charger or higher, sold separately, the phone reaches up to 75 percent in about 30 minutes, against 55 percent on the Pixel 11 Pro. On a shooting day, a 30 minute break recovering three quarters of a charge is the difference between finishing and packing up early.
Pixelsnap wireless charging is Qi2.2 certified up to 25W. The magnetic alignment supports the full accessory ecosystem of mounts, grips and magnetic battery packs, which is how you keep the phone powered while it is rigged.
Storage
Configurations run 256GB with 12GB of RAM, 512GB with 16GB of RAM, and 1TB with 16GB of RAM. The 512GB and 1TB options use Zoned UFS, which groups writes into logical zones for more consistent sustained performance.
8K capture makes storage a hard constraint rather than a preference. A creator shooting 8K regularly should treat 512GB as the working minimum and 1TB as the sensible choice for a primary camera, particularly since there is no microSD slot.
The 16GB RAM on the upper tiers also serves Video Boost processing and large in-memory edits. Offloading runs over USB-C 3.2 to an external SSD.
Editing
Google Photos provides Edit with Ask Photos, which takes a plain language instruction and applies the edit. Auto frame recomposes, Resize and move subjects repositions elements within a frame, and Sky styles restyles skies.
Magic Eraser, Best Take, Photo Unblur, Portrait Light, Portrait blur and Zoom Enhance are all available, with Zoom Enhance particularly relevant given the 120x Pro Zoom range.
Gemini Intelligence, Gemini Nano and Gemini Live run on device alongside Circle to Search and Live Translate. Android 17 ships at launch with seven years of OS, security and Pixel Drop updates, and the larger display makes on-device editing genuinely practical rather than a compromise.
Audio
The phone records stereo audio with speech enhancement for dialogue isolation, wind noise reduction for outdoor capture, and audio zoom that narrows the pickup pattern as the lens zooms in.
Audio Magic Eraser separates a finished recording into component sound layers, allowing traffic, wind or crowd noise to be reduced independently of the dialogue track. For location work without acoustic control, it recovers takes that would otherwise be lost.
Three microphones with noise suppression handle capture, and stereo speakers with Spatial Audio handle review playback. There is no 3.5mm jack, so external microphones connect over USB-C 3.2 or through a wireless transmitter system.
Design and Build
The Pixel 11 Pro XL measures approximately 162.6 x 76.2 x 7.6 mm and weighs about 226 g. It is a large phone, and the weight is the honest trade for the display size and battery capacity.
The cover glass is Corning Gorilla Glass Victus 2 with an anti-scratch coating, the back is Gorilla Glass Victus 2 in a silky matte finish, and the frame is polished spacecraft-grade aluminium, with a matte finish frame on the Obsidian option. A fingerprint-resistant coating is applied to the back.
IP68 dust and water resistance is rated across the body. The aluminium housing is 100 percent recycled content, the device is made with at least 33 percent recycled materials by weight, and packaging is 100 percent plastic free.
The display is a 6.8-inch Super Actua LTPO OLED at 1344 x 2992 in a 20:9 ratio, working out to 486 ppi. Smooth Display runs from 1Hz to 120Hz adaptively. Brightness reaches up to 2,400 nits in HDR and 3,600 nits peak, with contrast above 2,000,000:1 and full 24-bit colour depth.
Colour options are Canyon, Olive, Fog and Obsidian in a matte finish.
