The Samsung Galaxy A35 was launched in March 2024 alongside the Samsung A55. Pre-orders began on March 11, 2024, and the devices were made available on March 15, 2024. It landed in Kenya in April 2024. Samsung Galaxy A35 is available at City hub at Ksh.32,000 for the 128GB and Ksh.40,500 for 256GB.
The device has a 6.6-inch 120Hz Super AMOLED punch-hole display with a screen resolution of 1080 x 2340 pixels and is protected by Gorilla Glass Victus+. Galaxy A35 5G is powered by the Octa-core Exynos 1380 SoC processor with Mali-G68 MP5 GPU.
It packs a triple rear camera setup consisting of a 50 MP primary sensor, a 8 MP ultra-wide-angle camera, and a 5 MP macro camera, and on the front, there is a 13MP selfie camera.
Samsung Galaxy A35 introduce major innovations in technology, including the most advanced dual-camera system ever on Samsung, a powerhouse chip, and an impressive leap in battery life.
Design
The Galaxy A35 looks the same as many of the recent Galaxy A phones. The Galaxy A35 is a dual-glass smartphone with a plastic frame, which means it has gotten a glass back panel upgrade since the Galaxy A34. The front panel has also seen an improvement, as it is now a Gorilla Glass Victus+ sheet, up from GG5.
The front is home to the 6.6-inch Super AMOLED screen of 1080p+ resolution and 120Hz refresh rate.
There is an under-display fingerprint sensor optical type, and it works nicely fast.
The frame is made of thick plastic, and it is flat, too, but with a matte finish.
Samsung A35 is available in four delightful trendy new colors to fit your look: Iceblue, Lilac, Navy, Lemon
- Dimensions: 161.7 x 78 x 8.2 mm (6.37 x 3.07 x 0.32 in)
- Weight: 209 g (7.37 oz)
- Build: Glass front (Gorilla Glass Victus+), plastic frame, glass back
Display
The Samsung Galaxy A35 uses a similar display panel as the Galaxy A34 – a 6.6-inch Super AMOLED with 2,340 x 1,080 pixels (390ppi), 120Hz refresh rate, 8-bit color depth and up to 1,000 nits of peak brightness.
The Galaxy A35 supports both DCI-P3 and sRGB color spaces. The AMOLED screen of the Galaxy A35 supports up to 120Hz refresh rate. There are two Motion Smoothness modes – Adaptive and Standard. The Adaptive mode drops the refresh rate down to 60Hz when the screen is static/idling/AOD and for incompatible HRR apps like Camera and Maps.
- Type: Super AMOLED, 120Hz, 1000 nits (HBM)
- Size: 6.6 inches, 106.9 cm2 (~84.8% screen-to-body ratio)
- Resolution: 1080 x 2340 pixels, 19.5:9 ratio (~390 ppi density)

Camera
The camera setup on the Galaxy A35 seems to be changed coming from the Galaxy A34, as the main camera is now 50MP instead of 48MP.
The main camera on the Galaxy A35 captures binned photos in 12.5MP resolution by default. These offer pretty great quality overall. It had us slightly perplexed since the phone reports it as being based on a Samsung ISOCESS S5KGN8 sensor, and we couldn’t find any mention of this camera sensor model online. It appears to have a sensor size similar to the one on the A34.
The selfie cam is a well-documented ISOCELL (S5K)3L6 unit that can actually capture 4K@30fps video.

Platform
The Samsung Galaxy A35 runs on the latest Android 14 out of the box with Samsung’s own One UI 6.1.
Last year’s Galaxy A34 was powered by the Exynos 1390 chip, and now the A35 gets a newer, more powerful Exynos 1380 chipset based on the 4nm manufacturing process.
The new Exynos 1380 features the same 4x Cortex-A78 and 4x Cortex-A55 combo, but the main four cores are clocked higher this time around. The cluster of four Cortex-A78 cores ticks at 2.4 GHz, while the Cortex-A55 cluster remains at 2.0 GHz. The Mali-G88 MP5 GPU, however, has been replaced by the Xclipse 530 GPU
- OS: Android 14, One UI 6.1
- Chipset: Exynos 1380 (5 nm)
- CPU: Octa-core (4×2.4 GHz Cortex-A78 & 4×2.0 GHz Cortex-A55)
- GPU: Mali-G68 MP5
Battery and Storage
The Galaxy A35 uses the same 5,000 mAh battery as its predecessors, but it’s running a new Exynos 1380 chipset, which promises improved efficiency.
The charging speed has stayed the same as the Galaxy A35 still relies on the 25-watt Power Delivery protocol, which isn’t very competitive in its price bracket. It takes about 1 hour and 3 minutes to complete a full charging cycle, while a 30-minute charge would only bring the battery to 55%.
- Type: Li-Ion 5000 mAh, non-removable
- Charging: 25W wired
